‘Fairtrade Detectives’ bearing a winning logo by Venture Arts artist John Groakes will soon be hunting for fairtrade goods all over Manchester.
The new initiative, organised by Manchester City Council and United Response, aims to discover which businesses in the city sell fairtrade goods.
Volunteers who have learning disabilities will be Fairtrade Detectives- visiting shops, cafes and restaurants to seek out where fairtrade goods can be found and then the evidence will be produced online for shoppers. Volunteers will learn invaluable skills which will help them in their future careers.
United Response approached Venture Arts to enter a design for the scheme. Logos were entered from across Manchester but it was the logo by John that was chosen as the winner!
‘Fairtrade Detectives’ was launched at Nexus Art Cafe on the 20th July. John, Alena (Artist Tutor) and Amanda (Venture Arts’ Manager) attended the event where John’s logo was revealed. Well Done John!
